A solar tracker is a device that orients solar panels toward the Sun. Trackers are used to minimize the angle of incidence between the incoming sunlight and a PV panel(flat photovoltaic panel) with sunlight sensor signal output and adjusted by slewing drive. This increases the amount of energy produced, boosting power production up to 25% more than fixed amount of tilt system.

However tracking system was more complex in structure and has high precise requirement than stationary tilts. Its Heliotropism movement also brings risk of wind vibration and even gallop (collision). There are multiple tracker designs and configurations on the market, like mono-axis (single axis) tracker, dual axis tracker. As solar industry developing and engineering improving, tracker suppliers are working to optimize solar tracking system in reducing operation risk in harsh weather, increasing backtracking reliability as well as easy and save-time installation.

Tracking system has an increasing share in solar industry because collect the sun's energy with maximum efficiency and brings lower LCOE - Levelized Cost of Energy (an economic assessment of the average total cost to build and operate a power-generating asset over its lifetime divided by the total energy output of the asset over that lifetime. The LCOE can also be regarded as the average minimum price at which electricity must be sold in order to break-even over the lifetime of the project.)
